Onions? All onions? What are white onions? I know Spanish onions and yellow onions and red onions oh and spring onions...but not white ones? We grow all sorts here in our garden. Is it you cannot eat them raw or cooked?
I will not eat any color. Cooked. Grilled. Fried. Raw. You name it, I wont do it. On the very, very, very rare occasion - I'll have onion rings, but they have to be small and mainly bread :)
What if you make soup? I don't think I know any soup that doesn't have onion in it or leek or onion powder...wow...I guess for me onions are like salt. I put the in everything...as for salt...well I don;t really use it much.
I can handle some onions in soup, but they have to be diced and not firm. On the other side of the coin, I don't like them in soup because as they cook they become stringing and it's the texture I hate the most - so big floppy pieces of onion gross me out.
Aw man, I love big pieces of onion! I leave them in big chunks and throw them into everything like Princesskasren. I also use a whole onion where my mom only uses half. She's not as big a fan (lots of big onion chunks and overcooked eggs are the things she complains about most in my cooking). I like to say that it keeps away the scurvy. :D I love me some onion. Firm, squishy, raw, grilled, fried, caramelized(YUM!)...it's all good. :P You don't know what you're missin'.
Oh yes I do - there's a reason I don't eat them. Its not like I haven't tried - everyone and their mother have made me try.
Ooh, you'd better not come to my place for dinner, Maura. I put onions in lots of things!
onions is goooood.
but your allowed not to like them.:)
I def don't dispute you right to hate them. All the foods I dislike are disliked mainly on their texture. I do havr to say that some of my homemade soups are blended so no stringy bits!
Well, at least you've tried...so many people just refuse to eat certain things after one bad experience. :D
Its hard to avoid onions entirely - but I do when I can.
[this is good]
I'm with you!
I really hate onions!
I can't digest them so they make me feel sick for 2 days if they're aren't cooked to obliviance (sp?) so in soup and sauces they're ok for me but not cooked/caramelised/baked/grilled/steamed/... and raw is the worst! Even the smell of raw onions makes me sick :-(
Paprika has kind of the same problem but once they're mixed with olive-oil, they suddenly aren't a problem anymore (some chemical reaction makes those better digestible with the oil ^_^ )
Oooh, I wish I had a good reason not to eat them - other than dislike. My body's inability to process high fructose corn syrup has saved me many a times from being obligated to stuff my face with sweets.
