So, the more and more I look around for a good owl image for my tattoo, the more and more I'm not sure if owls is what I want to do. I love the look of owls, yes - but only some. I've realized after looking through a LOT of images that there are some kinds of owls I do not want for a tattoo.
Plus, I ran across a slew of panda images that I was in love with. So now I'm not sure what I want to do... Below are some images I'm considering.
I've decided what I wanted for my birthday: A tattoo. I've always thought about getting one - and my tongue pierced, but I've left that one behind - and now I think I'm ready. I'm thinking of getting two little owl tattoos that go together, but are different, on the inside of each wrist.
So I need some help! Anyone want to design some tattoos for me? :P I want some that looks cute and kawaii in nature but not bubblegum cute. Something simple - don't want to spend TOO much time in pain :P - and clean.
So let's see 'em!!!
Oh, and my birthday is July 7th - so you guys have to hurry :D
What are you most looking forward to in August?
Well, in August is my sister's & my mom's birthdays.
Also I have plans to go to the Breaking Dawn concert in Los Angeles on August 7th.
Last but not least: my new doll should be delivered! Today marks three weeks so I really only have a MAXIMUM of two and a half weeks left to wait though I'm sure she'll be delivered before then.
Last night my sister surprised me with dinner for my birthday - she even convinced one of my friends who I'd invited to say she wasn't able to come so I'd be surprised - and it was so much fun!
My sister gave me this cute dress I'd been eyeing in the store the other day but couldn't bring myself to buy it over the more "useful" tops I had in the other hand. It's this wonderful turquoise color and it's very light and airy. It'll be great for summer! I got a gift card to Target (oh I hate how much I love them - especailly after they treated me with our wedding gifts) from a friend & a Visa gift card from my parents. Paul also said I could get my windows tinted on my car! The problem is, I don't know what to spend my Visa card on - because it's not a store card I can spend it anywhere and that's the problem.
My first thought was to buy the Wii Fit. I'd been looking at this for awhile and was excited! But then I realized that it would take most of my gift card and also it seems to be sold out everywhere. Also, I went onto CNet and it burst my bubble of what I thought it was - which is a good thing because I'd hate to be dissapointed in it.
So now I'm at a bit of a loss. I was thinking of maybe buying some exersize stuff - I'd really like to try out pilates or yoga - but then I remembered that I have a lot of that stuff at home already and I need to stop buying new stuff in order to get insprired and just use the old stuff. I was also thinking maybe I'd put it towards a new sound system for my car (that's the one thing I hate - in comparrison to my Jetta) but that - like a new doll - would require more funds and I'm trying to pass on those options.
Its strange how I can't find anything to spend my money on when it's free - but when it's from my own pocket I'm ready to hand it out at the first cool gadet or cute shirt I see :(
Sunday was my nephew's first birthday (party). My sister & brother-in-law had the party at their new apartment. It's a cute two bedroom/one bathroom apartment with a patio. The place is perfectly sized for the three of them and some family, but we had 30+ people come to the party and it was packed. I didn't really care - even if others might have. The party started at 11am - a little earlier than originally intended but they moved it around to meet with some scheduling issues. Since it was so early, Zeke was a bit tired and grumpy at some points. However, I thought it was a bit cute. Towards the end, when he was in his highchair with his little cake in front of him (Albertsons, a grocery chain, gives a free small cake for every first birthday) he was so tired that he didn't do much eating of cake but he yawned a lot. I thought it was cute as all hell, but that's just me :)
As everyone can probably tell, I really like the fact that we have more than one QotD to pick from. I'm finding that I can never answer the News & Politics ones though :(
Today is Friday - if no one knew. I remember when I worked in retail the weekends became so normal - they were my work days. I remember coming back to work an 7am-4pm job and loving that "FRIDAY" feeling. I miss that. I miss a day to look forward to and a definite end to my week.
My sister moved into her new apartment last Saturday! Such an exciting experience :) But, because we were borrowing their extra TV they weren't using at my parents house, we had to buy a new one. So we found a great deal on a LCD 32in and picked it up last night. Normally, we would have just put it on a credit card - but this time we didn't. It was a big expense, but I'm glad that we just used our checking account. We need to stop thinking that credit cards are the best option. They're good for somethings - but not everything. Paul hooked it up and it looks nice, though because our entertainment center is generally low to the ground I'm wondering if maybe we want to wall mount it. I'd rather be looking up slightly than looking down.
I finally got some new stuff for Byeol! As you may remember, I ordered two pairs of shoes and a sweater/shirt combo from eBay and then I also had some custom jeans made for her. They're all together at last and I'm happy with the purchases. I knew that this hobby was going to be more expensive than my Blythe - but I think I'm doing very well so far as making wise purchases. The shoes cost me less than $30 together, as well as the sweater/shirt combo. In fact, only the custom jeans - which I think are well worth it - were more than $30 at $33. I am, however, running out of options for sellers. I really need to start trying to make some clothes of my own.
This weekend is my nephew's 1st birthday! We were over at my sister place last night and saw him take his first steps! He'd been taking one or two steps and falling down, but last night he was practically walking across the whole living room! It was so amazing :) I'm buying him his cake and we're having a lot of family down. I hope that my camera cooperates with me. I really need to take a digital photography class as I'm sometimes so lost with my settings - as I've bemoaned about before.
Anyhow... so like I said - it's Friday :)
I had a great birthday! I got a lot of great gifts and had a great time visiting family! Here are the gifts I got - I don't mean to boast, I just want people to know what I'm talking about when I mention them later...
First off, we have my DS Lite which I posted about getting from Paul last week. I love it! Its so much fun and Paul and I have found a game we love to play together thanks to wedgeh's suggestion: Zoo Keeper. This has been the most fun so far (we got it on Saturday night and even though we didn't start playing it until 11pm - it kept us up late with the fun we had!) though we're hoping that it wont be the last game that we enjoying playing together. I've also received and begun to play Trace Memory upon Bookishly Fabulous's suggestion and though the game is starting slow I'm really enjoying the use of both screens in the story telling and the puzzles. Hopefully today I'll receive Mario Kart Racing and Spiderman!
Second, I got this cute little number from my parents-in-law and I was so tickled by it. I thought it sweet as well that she remembered that ages ago we went to this import shop and I saw this and loved it. It's a solar powered "Lucky Cat" that waves and shakes its head from side to side. I'm torn between bringing it to work with me and leaving it at home. I seem to spend more time at work admiring my desk buddies (I have lots!) so I think I'll bring it to work. Also, we went and saw Transformers (it was my second time - also saw it on Tuesday night) and they made me some great chicken with this really interesting broccoli slaw and baked beans - they also bought me a cake! It was my one and only and very special :)
Third, we have the gift from my sister & brother-in-law which I asked for and am very excited about trying out. It's called "A Stitch of One's Own" and it's a kit for learning to knit. I blame my want to learn this art on Bookishly Fabulous as all of her projects have been so cute! I'll be the first to say that a lot of my friends have stopped making an effort to spend time with me, so I have some more free time on my hands and would like to spend it productively rather than just watching movies and stuff. I've brought the kit to work to try it out on my lunch today and see how well they can walk me through starting the stitch which I remember I learned once (with much help and a lot of practice) and have since forgotten. I'm hoping that will help - having known it at least for a time. I've got a ton of great projects to start with and hopefully I can finish them!
Fourth, we have the gift from my father which I haven't been able to photograph to show you guys - but I do have the photograph from the instructions I gave him when I asked him to construct it for me. Its a Light Box / Light Tent / Photo Booth - whatever you'd like to call it :) I'm so completely blow away by how much effort he put into it considering he made a few modifications of his own such as how I hang the poster board, made adjustable legs (adjustable other than height), as well as two different heights of legs. I'm so excited to try it out but I've been running, running, running all weekend. Hopefully tonight! My first subject is going to Talullah as she is my only stock-shine girl - the true test! I'm waiting anxiously for my new doll to arrive, My Best Friend, so I can photograph her in the box and stuff.
Fifth, we went to Ikea and though the majority of our purchases were for Paul & I both - I did get one or two things just for my sake :) What we purchased for the both of us though, was a new chair with matching footstool. We have very little seating in our living room even though we have a three seating couch as well as a recliner - so I talked Paul into this great chair we'd seen last time because the price was really great for what it was and it would go well with our furniture. That was our main purchase but we also got some other little things like this UBER bright light that might be too bright, a pot lid hanging rack, a hammock (we're going camping on the 21st!), some lights to hang outside that are blue and shaped like birds, and last but not least: My ghost, re-chargeable battery operated, touch light! I'm so excited about him because he's the best. I've named him Lincoln. He's covered in this rubber-y like material that Zeke loves and because I got him in the kids section he's conveniently completely sealed and covered so Zeke can actually hold him and stuff and not worry about getting hurt! He's the best - my Linc.
While we were at Ikea - I talked Paul into letting me buy a dresser as soon as his back was feeling better and he could lift the box in & out of my car. We'll have to do some moving around of our furniture because I want to take out the bookcase (pictured positioned vertical - but we use it horizontal) we currently have our TV sitting on in our bedroom OUT and replace it with the dresser. But what to do with the bookcase? Well I told Paul we could put it underneath or on top (which ever works best based on size) of our current TV stand in our living room. So I went online to Ikea and found out that the TV stand has more depth so we'll have to put our bookcase on top of the TV stand. I also checked online about the weight issues and it says the bookcase weighs 76 lbs and the TV stand can hold 143 lbs so that leave us 67 lbs in entertainment technology and... stuff. I'm excited because I'm sick of having to hang everything or leave it folded in my laundry basket. Also, if it's not sturdy enough I'll just find a place to put the bookcase vertically. Plans, plans plans. I love Ikea.
Though I have to say I was more than a little disappointed when I went there because I couldn't find much that was on sale - other than small generic stuff. Also, I found this little chair I loved and was considering over the chair we ended up choosing until I saw the price. The one pictured is in a pattern but it is the same price as the ones that are solids - a whopping $349. I'm sorry - but that's a lot! It's a relatively small chair in height, width & depth (perfect for me!) so I would think it would be less expensive. It's almost as if, since it's versatile in size and shape - they're making you pay more for such convenience.
Anyhow - so I think that was it. I had a blast and I got lots of birthday wishes and got to visit a lot of my favorite shops and people & places :)
Okay, so I couldn't spend $200+ on my Ichigo Heaven doll - but Paul did give me a great birthday gift to lift my spirits - a Nintendo DS Lite!
In return, I bought one for his birthday we didn't really celebrate because we were dirt broke with still paying bits of the wedding off. He got an Onyx one though because I said, "I want a different color so that when you scratch your screen you can't claim mine - and I'm not taking PINK."
We've had a blast with them so far - there is a chat program on it so that you can talk to another DS and we bought Super Mario Bros 64 which has a two player mode so we can play together. Only to find out, the verses game SUCKS. We're looking for another game - any suggestions?
So far, I really like it :) More pictures in my Flickr set!
I feel a lot better this morning - this week in general. The last two weeks or so I've been getting to bed really late and not sleeping that well - and I could tell that it was effecting me. Not surprisingly, last night I went home and Paul & I played Lego Star Wars II a bit and I began getting tired and I ended up falling asleep at about 6:30pm and sleeping until 8:00pm. I was really angry with myself because I knew that I would be getting to sleep late again and I really needed a good nights sleep. Luckily though, with the combination of a good dinner and some Law & Order I was tired again at about 9:30 and was asleep by ten - YAY! I woke up this morning refreshed and ready.
So in conclusion, the long weekend followed by the short week is really doing wonders for me. Plus I officially decided to take some time off in July - from July 4th (which is paid because of the holiday) until July 9th. Five whole days - I can't wait. I'd like to jam pack it with everything under the sun but then I realize that filling it too much would not give me the restorative time I need. Paul & I are thinking about Las Vegas though. I really wanted to go this year and gamble for my birthday (07/07/07) hoping that the lucky date would grant me some extra winnings - but I've heard that Las Vegas is going to be swimming on that date.
Not much else to report - other than I've been really boring as of late and I know it. Thank goodness for the QotD & Vox Hunts or my Vox would be empty.
