Last night we had a really good time with Ripley.
When we first got her, I called a local vet and made an appointment for her to get her vaccinations. As I'm sure everyone is aware, I've never had a puppy so I didn't ask many questions, simply made the appointment. However, Paul started calling around checking prices for other vets and some of them told him that Ripley needed to six months old before getting any vaccinations. Well she's only 3 months old - at the most - and so I called by the vet I originally made an appointment for and asked questions. She was nice enough to explain that puppies needed "puppy" vaccinations and those started at six weeks and that she's have to come back four more times to finish the necessary puppy vaccinations (I think that's what she said) and that Ripley could come in and she'd be fine. I even explained that she's a miniature breed mix and very tiny - and the woman assured me that she'd be fine. Since they were so nice, close, and seemingly more educated than most of the others - we went to them last night as originally scheduled.
Ripley is 6.9 pounds, calm at the vet, and doesn't flinch when she's given shots. She got her first deworming and we were also given a flea treatment that she can use that was not based on her age but on her weight. We're going to go back next month for her next set.
After the vet (and a quick stop at a pet store for some fish stuff) we headed down the way to have dinner. Ripley was so good the whole way, and when we parked we let her out to do her business. I'm so glad that we have those doggy bags on her leash - I hate people who let their dog go to the bathroom everywhere and don't clean it up. She was quiet in her crate as we ate and then was perfect in my lap the whole way home. Yesterday I picked up Jolie from the post office and deboxed her while Paul played Uncharted. Ripley sat on her big pillow (which was originally Juniors - but Ripley has officially claimed it) and played with her rope the whole time. It was nice. It was one of the first nights where everything was calm and happy and Ripley seemed content.
Then we went and ruined it by continuing with the crate training. She's really unhappy in there, and I hate hearing her make a fuss, but it's really important that we do this - for everyone in the family. Again this morning, she simply refused to go to the bathroom on the training pad. What was worse was that this morning it was raining (Yes! In Southern California - for once). I wish she'd just learn to use it. Oh well, Rome wasn't built in a day.
I really love my DaL, but I haven't really fallen for any of the other releases of this doll. However, the November release (which unfortunately doesn't get released until the end of December here in the US) is very cute and I am beyond tempted. The great thing about these dolls is that they are pretty cheap (in comparison to my Blythe dolls) when released unless they are a special one fashioned after something in particular.
This doll is called Jolie and I think she's super sweet. The only other DaL that I was even interested in was Rot-Chan and that's because of her red hair. This girl has red hair and cute braids. I also love her outfit - I just hope they don't change it.
They changed Hitomi's (Sooni) and it wasn't a big change but I didn't like it.
Anyhow - I'm considering pre-ordering her from either this site called The Valley of the Dolls or maybe even Pullip Style - I think that the later may get her in sooner though I'm not really sure.
What's the best thing you ever bought off of Ebay or Craigslist?
Oh this is difficult to answer because I'm forced to buy a lot from eBay due to the fact that I like imports. Here's a list of some of the good stuff I've bought:
- These niffy doll shoes, which I don't think I would have been able to get for such a good price - even off of my dolly website.
- My Sooni DaL, Hitomi, who was out of stock every place else when I really wanted to buy her.
- The great and beautiful bento box :)
Show us something you own that is from a different country.

I could post so much! Most of my new goodies are from foreign countries. I'll just post this...
wOOt! I don't know why, but she came from Germany! Here's her Flickr set so far - be warned that I only had twenty minutes to take these pictures before I had to start heading back to work :) MORE TONIGHT!
Vox has been really dull for me lately. Its not my neighbors, it's not my groups - it's me. I hope I pick up soon.
I got a package in the mail yesterday - I'm going to pick it up from the post office in a few minutes - and I'm wondering what it is. It says its from Germany and I don't remember ordering anything from Germany. There's a small part of me hoping that it's Hitomi because I feel like I've been waiting FOREVER for her to come - but I know that she was shipped from Singapore.
Wish me luck!
I've updated Belm Dolls blog again with some exciting news in regards to my Dal Hitomi, a photo shoot of Steren and also her eye chip adjustment that I finally completed (pictures!). Here's the blog's link again, please comment here (the blog does allow comments) or there - both will be replied to.
