Last night, Paul & I sat down and talked about creating a budget. We were cleaning most of last night so we couldn't do it then, but I'm hoping tonight we'll have an opportunity. I know he's really going to try for me this time, and so I really have to try as well - meet him half way like the responsible partner should.
Which means I can't get this gorgeous dress that's featured on the DoA forums. It's so modern, colorful, and so unlike most of the clothing for sale on the board right now; Lolita, Gothic, and Kimonos.
Woe is me.
I'm praying that today doesn't go by as slow as yesterday - because yesterday was so long.
When I got home and settled in I decided to do some "maintenance" on my dolls. I'd had them in the same clothes with their hair the same way for ages and I was worried about damaging them. So I undressed them all and took down their hair but didn't have time or the will to shampoo and dry each ones hair - a task long overdue. I also bagged* any new clothes I had acquired since the last time I'd cleaned up my collection and sorted everything as best as I could. I need to find a way to store and organize the clothes in a better way but I also don't want anything bulky or expensive. Must brainstorm.
Last night we also watch Pulp Fiction, which was a first for me. I'd seen bits and pieces over the years and knew some of the storyline but other than that I was pretty much in the dark. In fact, there was this cut scene once in an episode of Family Guy where Peter charges into a room with a samurai sword and slashes at two hillbillies. Paul laughed pretty hard but I never got it. Anyhow, I enjoyed the movie and I'm glad I've finally seen it. Next on my list of movies people poke fun at me for not having seen yet: Reservoir Dogs.
This weekend is going to be busy, I think. My sister called me last night and asked me to go with her and a bunch of other girls to this club at a local casino. Clubs are really not my scene - but I have a lot of fun with my sister when we do stuff like this and we're really not going to be drinking or anything. Just doing the "girls night out" thing. However, as I said it's not really my scene and I haven't decided if I'm going to go yet. Saturday I have no plans - but I do hope and pray I can at least get a bit of dryness and sunshine so I can take some pictures of my dolls. I put Hitomi in the cutest outfit last night and all I wanted to do was photograph her but I couldn't - and I still don't have any pictures of Bethany. Sunday I'm going to Disneyland with Jane for her birthday and I'm pretty excited :) The weather is supposed to be nice (let's hope this rain doesn't follow!) and we're going to get an early start and really enjoy the day. We learned our lesson once about leisurely strolling into the park.
All in all the weekend looks good!
*Bagged = My dolly clothes storage system consists of a large purse in which I place "sets" of clothes in snack-size ziplock plastic bags that I compress and then seal to make them slimmer. I organize them by stock clothing, handmade clothing, good quality clothing (such as SugarMag) and then junk clothing (like Barbie Fashion Fever).
I've changed my mind. I've decided that if I'm going to spend that much money on a doll (granted, if and when) I'm going to buy one of these. It seems so much more worth it. I know that some of you out there in my neighborhood are likely shouting "Enough with these !@#$% dolls already!!!" - but you guys have to look at the beauty and artistic nature of this one. You have to!
I really love my DaL, but I haven't really fallen for any of the other releases of this doll. However, the November release (which unfortunately doesn't get released until the end of December here in the US) is very cute and I am beyond tempted. The great thing about these dolls is that they are pretty cheap (in comparison to my Blythe dolls) when released unless they are a special one fashioned after something in particular.
This doll is called Jolie and I think she's super sweet. The only other DaL that I was even interested in was Rot-Chan and that's because of her red hair. This girl has red hair and cute braids. I also love her outfit - I just hope they don't change it.
They changed Hitomi's (Sooni) and it wasn't a big change but I didn't like it.
Anyhow - I'm considering pre-ordering her from either this site called The Valley of the Dolls or maybe even Pullip Style - I think that the later may get her in sooner though I'm not really sure.
What's the best thing you ever bought off of Ebay or Craigslist?
Oh this is difficult to answer because I'm forced to buy a lot from eBay due to the fact that I like imports. Here's a list of some of the good stuff I've bought:
- These niffy doll shoes, which I don't think I would have been able to get for such a good price - even off of my dolly website.
- My Sooni DaL, Hitomi, who was out of stock every place else when I really wanted to buy her.
- The great and beautiful bento box :)
Show us your current art or crafting project.
This is my current project - my Tailor Gibson Blythe doll. I'm customizing her - but have undoubtedly failed and botched the whole job. When taking her eye mechanism out, I broke the loop the pushes over the clips on the arc - and had to replace it with a different model's arc. The replacement however, is not working and I fear I've ruined her beyond repair. The real bummer is that I had plans to fashion her after someone special and I'll not be able to do that anymore.
I've gotten a few suggestions so far as fixes go. Someone suggested that I find an SBL to replace the current ADG arc (which replaced the RBL), but I don't have a SBL to spare so I don't think I could try that. Other suggestions included loosening the t-bar, which I'll definitely try. I had one thought, when I was pushing her eye balls back onto the post, I think I might have pushed one too far - the one that actually has the notched ring that the arc interacts with. Perhaps if that is pressed to far in - the arc wont be able to change? I'll try it out.
I was happy to take Lowri out this weekend to take pictures of her - but wildly disappointed that the place I wanted to go to, a local church we frequent, had decided to close access to their property. This really upsets me because you would think that if any place would be open to the public it would be a church. Oh well though, I guess they have to protect the property as best as they could. If I were more determined I would have just parked nearby and walked under/over the car-blocking gate.
Instead, we drove into this massive "master planned community" over-priced housing area. It was very dry and boring in regards to houses (all of them looked the same!) but surprisingly the center divider on the main road (a road that was dead, BTW) had some fantastic, petite plant life & clean rocks - so we parked and just took some pictures there. It's proving harder and harder to find places to photograph my dolls because I don't like them to look repetitive. Is that such a bad thing? While I was taking pictures of Lowri, Paul was taking my car around the area a few times. He's driving a manual transmission before - but he's been very rusty and I'd like it if he could drive my car if need be - so he's been taking it out occasionally. He's gotten it down for the most part and I'm sure the next time he wants to drive I wont grip onto the door handle nearly as hard :P
In other news, my camera has shipped! I was getting really frustrated with the website because it said that it would ship out sooner than it really did - but I'm over that. Its been shipped and I've paid for overnight/ 1-2 day shipping and I just hope that it gets here as quickly as it can. Since I know I'll have it by this weekend - I'm definitely planning a trip to La Jolla. My sister & brother-in-law are now coming as well because they were married there and have been excited about going back. I got "up sold" on my camera though. They called on Sunday morning (they're closed on Saturday but not Sunday - strange!) waking me up and catching me off guard. They said they were calling to confirm the shipping address but I don't think that's true because as soon as he confirmed it he then went into asking me about my accessories packages. He then asked if I wanted to buy the warranty - saying that it would be in addition to the one year manufactured warranty making it four years. The camera is expensive - so I took the warranty. I never used the warranty on my current camera so I could have just wasted more money but it's the peace of mind that I don't mind paying for. I hope to have this camera for awhile - even longer than my current one - so four years of safety seems worth it. They also threw in a memory card upgrade! Before I had a 2GB Secure Digital Card - they upgraded me to 2GB Digital Visions High Speed 150X Secure Digital Card which is supposed to allow your camera to take the pictures faster.
We've also finished Heros: Season One. Such. A. Good. SHOW! I'm excited for next Monday when the season premiere airs - I just hope it's just as good on TV as it is on DVD.
Paul bought Heavenly Sword on Saturday afternoon and finished it Sunday afternoon :( Even though it was a very good game - I feel like it was such as waste of $60. I started playing it on Sunday night and it's fun - I hope that he plays it more than just the once as he's promised me.
Good weekend, good weekend.

Look at the awesome eye chips that just got delivered! I ordered these awhile back with the intention of taking out Ruth's (STA) dark, dark, dark eye chips and replacing them with Lowri's (HH) and then giving Lowri new chips. However - that's all changed now. I like Lowri's chips and I'm selling Ruth so I have these four sets in limbo right now. I can't give them to Steren as she has her own custom ones, I can't give them to Talullah because she's staying as stock as I can keep her (and she has one set of front-facing custom chips as well), I can't give them to Odessa because she has custom chips, so that only leaves Aislin and my new girl who I've yet named - Tailor Gibson.
I guess I could give them to Tailor Gibson - I'm already planning a major customization on her anyhow - and then keep Tailor's for another girl (as I really do love them)... I really love having Aislin as stock as I can keep her so I don't think I'll be giving them to her (despite her one set of purple front facing chips).
Decisions, decisions, decisions.
All I know is that I'm in love with these chips and I hope to use them soon. If you look closely, you'll notice that they aren't like regular Blythe chips. Instead of straight lines for the spokes that make up the iris - they're actually loops! The colors are also wildly vibrant (pictures don't do them justice, damn the sickening overhead lighting in my office!) and I think they'll really bring out the beauty in any girl :]
