I was just outbid on one of the cameras. Let's just hope I keep this other one because that's still a better deal than buying it new.
This is a picture I found on Flickr - a good representation of what the size of the camera is (not pocket sized :P) and also how the film looks.
I've kind of already decided that I want to get one whether I have to pay full price or not...
I love Yahoo - I've been with them since I began choosing a search engine and web-based email provider. I've never had too big of a beef with them and they're generally very intuitive when it comes to how their software works with others. However, the more and more I blog - and try to include images as demonstrations in my blogs - the more and more I get irritated with Yahoo image search.
I love Flickr, I really do, however I hate that when you find a good image on Flickr you likely can't use it. I respect photographers and I'm not going to print-screen someone who is obviously aware of how they want their work used. But when all Yahoo gives me is Flickr images I can't use - it's irritating. I don't want to have to clip & then edit clipped posts in order to get an image from the net.
I've resorted to using Google image search now because all I want is a quick shot of an orange or traffic moving on a freeway. Is that so hard to ask? I thought that Yahoo would allow you to exclude certain sites - but no matter how hard I try I can't seem to figure it out. Does anyone out there know the search syntax I should be using to exclude a site?
Paul & I both have Bluetooth on our phones - and we're having a geeky amount of fun beaming random things to each other. I found out I can send pictures from my Flickr via email & Bluetooth on my phone from the mobile Flickr - which is awesome. I can also save images off the net to my phone - time for a bigger memory card!
If you're anything like me, you're a screenshot person. You like to show people what you're seeing on the screen when that moment of inspiration grabs you. Recently I was suggested this piece of software called Jing. I downloaded it primarily for screenshots but I'm finding it's really cool and will probably explore the video option before the end of the day.
Anyhow, the reason I thought to finally post about it is because I used it's Flickr option. You take a screenshot, and you can upload it directly to Flickr - but it also places the photo's new URL on your clipboard so you don't have to go find it in order to send it to someone! I just used it while talking to Paul via the web and I was shocked at not only how quick it was (after I authorized it with Flickr) but also how easy it was! Its also cool for taking screenshots in order to show something in particular on the page to someone, because they have these arrow, box, & highlight tools so you can easily display what you're trying to without have to discribe the location on the page.
Really, a very user friendly and awesome piece of software. Here's the link - as I'm officially recommending it.

Well, I didn't take a nap last night before my sister came over - mainly because I was working on getting the pictures from the Scotland trip off of my laptop and onto Flickr. You can see them now - however I warn that I haven't "edited" them so there are a lot of apparent repeats due to exposure tests.
America's Next Top Model was good! I was so glad that Whitney - the plus size model in the competition - has not only survived again, but she also wasn't in the bottom two as I suspected she would be. With the remaining three chosen - and one of them being a plus size model - I really wonder what kind of runway show they're going to do. It may not even matter of course, if Whitney is cut before, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. If anything, I just hope that this gives the next plus size contestant more confidence that you can make it far in the competition if you just keep trying. Whitney said it best in her interview reel - the last plus size contestants all gave up eventually and it had very little to do with their ability to be a model. I'll be happy if Anya wins though, because I'm not a big fan of Fatima. Its surprising that I say that now because when I first began watching I hated Anya because of her accent - I fear that's going to hold her back when they do their Cover Girl commercials next week.
Tonight I've made no plans and I'm just going to relax! I'm going to go home, get some stuff together for my lunch tomorrow because I'm determined to try and bring a Bento box, take a quick bath as I'm hairy like a beast, and then hit the hay early...
Let's start with a bit of an add to one of my earlier posts entitled List of Woes where I mentioned about nothing getting shipped to me in a timely manner? Well as I mentioned, I participated in my first Swap on Flickr of Kawaii stuff - partners were given on July 10th & the deadline to send out the items was July 20th. So I rush around and find stuff and it's sent out on July 20th. I get an email today from my swap partner who says that she got my package and loved it - but she had yet to send out her own. She explained that she had ordered stuff from some online stores and it hadn't arrived yet and I understood - it was just the icing on the cake.
I did go to Target last night but they - not surprisingly - didn't have the labels I was looking for. More and more they disappoint me. I did however find a cute tank top for under four bucks. I'm beginning to see Target like Ross. I only go to Ross when I have no idea what I want to buy I just need clothes. That way I go in there and I'm not disappointed by the fact that they don't have what I'm looking for. If I wander around Target I'm sure to find something I can buy because I'm a consumer through and through - I'm also my Father's daughter and find use in most anything - but I can't go in there looking for something in particular.
Though I wasn't able to find the labels - Target did come through for me last night in one way. A few days ago SnuggleMuffin posted about buying a Polaroid camera and what fun she was having - Instant Gratification in fact. That in turn reminded me that I also had a Polaroid and so last night I went hunting and found it. In the same camera bag I found my old, broken, 35mm SLR - a Sears KSX Super that my parents gave me while I was in high school. The camera's shutter just stopped working one day and I was crushed as I just assumed it would be too much for me to repair as it was a very old manual camera and by the time I wanted to repair it everyone and their mother had a digital. But I pulled out the ol' girl just for memories sake and then decided to look up what I could online about it - who knew, maybe they had some repair ideas? So I find this site and it's talking about how they had the same issue as me and a replacement of the batteries solved it.
I sit back on my bed thinking, batteries? Its a manual, circa 1981 35mm SLR - what the hell does it have batteries for? It doesn't even have a flash or any kind of digital display. I've foolishly thought that the camera was so old that batteries weren't even in use at that time. But sure enough, I follow the directions for battery replacement and it does in fact have a tubby little 3 volts lodged up its rump. The manual on the website even indicated that the shutter was powered by the battery. I rush over to Target with my tubby battery and they tell me they don't carry it so I go home and jump online to find it and I can't find ANYTHING! I'm so bummed and I thought maybe the battery was called something OTHER than what was labeled on the battery so then I'm looking on the site about my camera more closely and it says I could also stack two 1.5 volt batteries so I rush back to Target and at last! They had something I was looking for. I popped the new batteries it and volià! My camera worked again! I was so happy that I slapped in an old B&W 400 24exp roll and started clicking away. They'll likely all come out very poorly considering that the lighting was terrible - but still! It worked!
Paul thought I was silly for wanting to fix it and use it. He said, "But you have a camera. It takes good pictures." And he's right. But I told him, its different when there is actual film involved. It's a connection.
I'm at work today and I feel great! This might be TMI for some - but I've been having a lot of physical problems in regards to being a girl and yesterday it all collided but now, I feel great!
I'm sorry if I haven't been commenting on many posts or posting much interesting stuff (especially because there have been some good QotDs & Vox Hunts) but I've had a lot on my mind and on my plate.
Some updates:
HARRY POTTER:Yes, I've seen the Harry Potter movie - twice. Yes, it was very close to the book - surprisingly given the length of the book versa the length of the movie - and the reason being a lot of the movie flew passed by way of newspaper. Yes, Daniel Radcliff (aka, Harry Potter) did star in a play about a teenage boy obsessed with horses and YES the play was erotic and he was naked. Yes, Daniel Radcliff is hot as all hell and YES I'm a pervert for thinking such (he's only going to be 18 this month!). No, I'm not going to any midnight release of the book though I wish I could. Yes, I'm having it delivered ON THE DAY OF RELEASE though I'll be out camping with my parents.
My photobox is working great though I have three different light bulbs at three different wattages(?) so I really need to even it out a bit. I'm going to work on getting that ready hopefully this weekend. Then, I'm going to work on editing some photographs with backgrounds!
I love Zoo Keeper and I've finished Trace Memory - though I was a bit bummed. Did I not finish the game properly? "D" stays on the island? I've decided, since I was given options to the story line near the very end, to play again and see if I can get a different ending.
I've joined a swap on Flickr! It's my first and its a Kawaii swap. I just hope that the person I was partnered up with likes what I got her... They gave us such a short time frame to shop and I don't live near any shops that sell Kawaii stuff so I had to get her mostly things from Sanrio - but I stayed within my budget so I don't really see it being a problem. I'd be thrilled to get what I bought :) Next swap I'm going to start shopping as soon as I sign up so that I have plenty of time to either order or drive to find something good.
After seeing a For Sale post in TiB for stationary and stickers and stuff - I reposted about the shop I have. The girl who posted about the stationary seemed a bit offended though and posted a reply to my thread saying, "Nice stuff - looks just like mine" or something to that effect. I didn't know if she meant it in a bad way, but I took it in a bad way. Either way, I replied as nicely as I could simply wishing her luck on her sales. I'm torn between trying to build up an inventory of the stuff I can make and sell so that I can ship them out as soon as someone buys them - or ordering them to be produced as they are ordered from me... What if they don't sell at all and then I have all this stuff that I paid for a no one to sell it to? I figure, if I do end up buying the stuff and no one buys it from me then I can just use it as a promo for my website to friends and family or maybe even sell it on other sites.
Well, that's really it. If I've missed a neighbors post (I only went back six pages - about Saturday morning or so...) - don't feel shy - share it with me so I can see it and comment!
