What's your "go-to" movie?  The one you watch when you need to just get away from it all?

I used to have a few, but when my brother died - and then a year later my sister ended a very important relationship - we sucked them dry of any repeat enjoyment. However! I still think of those movies fondly and put them on in the hopes of watching them but I always get distracted.

Which TV show never "jumped the shark"?

I'd have to say Veronica Mars, Friends, or Law & Order (original, none of that SVU or CI crap). They have, in my opinion, kept the same level of drama to keep me watching for years. I was a bit worried about Veronica Mars in the second season because it opens up with a bus full of kids driving off a cliff into the ocean with Veronica Mars narrowly missing having been on the bus - but it was too good for me to not watch more :)

Yesterday at lunch I was thoroughly bored, so after updating my journal I decided I was going to browse around through the Greatest Journal profiles and see if I could find someone who seemed to stand out - so far as content. I was surprised to find (or should I say not find?) not one single person who stood out to me. There were a few factors in these findings:

1) A lot of the profiles I browsed through were "Friends Only"
2) I'm a little turned off by the word fuck, shit, cunt, dick, and cock (reasonably)
3) Many of the journals were about people I didn't know - and the journal owner didn't care to explain

So my next try was to search based on my interests - but I soon discovered I lacked many interests and the ones I had listed were so broad the search produced something in the range of a thousand matches. Then after amending my interests (which many might want to check out - I was forced to honesty) the searches were - to say the least - just plain odd. Many of the matches either JUST started the journal or the last post was stating their separation from the site.

Yeesh! Was I to find no one? All I want is to hear about someone who doesn't screw their significant other in the bathroom or think Nascar so interesting they find it very satisfying to report the results of each lap of each player and their highlights (for the record I have nothing against racing - I just don't find it interesting to hear second hand).

If anyone has any suggestions PLEASE SAY SO!

Last night a friend came over to fix my computer for me – it was doing something weird when it opened up a Word Doc – trying (as he later explained to me) to open it twice – which was why it was asking if I wanted to make a copy of the file I already had open.

Anyhow he came over and I soon realized something. I don’t like to be friend’s with guys who can’t be friends with girls when they have a girlfriend themselves.

It just doesn’t work. He comes over and says a little over ten word to me (outside of the computer problem – that he talked about for a good twenty minutes) and those ten words I had to pull out of him with a pair of pliers and a bowl of soup (I made him dinner as a thank you).

I ask how he is doing. “Fine. A little tired from going to see ‘Mary’ every night until odd hours in the morning.”

I ask how work is going. “Fine. But because I’m tired it makes it hard to have a ‘Good’ day.”

I ask about church. “Good – Mary and I went out to eat afterwards last Sunday”

I ask about the one thing I thought could have nothing to do with ‘Mary’ – D&D. “Well it was real fun last time because Mary finally decided to try it out.” !!!

WHAT IS WRONG WITH SILLY BOYS WHO CAN SAY NOTHING BUT SILLY GIRL STUFF? I mean give me a break! We aren’t 12 years old anymore with a new crush. I tell myself I hope I never date anyone like that. Who hangs on my every move and want. I mean it’s good to feel wanted and needed but it’s completely different when every time I go to TAKE A SHIT he’s there to WIPE MY ASS!…

Sorry – I just get a little burned up feeling pushed out by circumstances such as these. I mean am I destined to never find a suitable guy friend who can leave his girlfriend behind for the short time we hang out?

I take that back. I did. But now he’s going to be married and I think that may change.

Being a girl is definitely not all ‘Sugar and spice and everything nice” but being friends with guys when you’re a girl is DEFIANTLY ‘Dirt and snails and puppy dog tails’…
